pop up shop at The Art Room
This year I've begun working at The Art Room which runs art classes and workshops for adults, and is located in the Cotton Mills in Footscray (Melbourne). I'm teaching photography for beginners and some workshops, plus I'm also working behind the scenes such as redesigning the website.
For this years Maribyrnong Open Studios, The Art Room hosted a fantastic day with lots of events. There was an exhibition of the students work, a free drawing workshop, you could meet the teachers and find out about the upcoming classes, and a pop up shop of my work and Merryn Trevethan's new home wares range Stochastica.
Teaching is something I never ever thought I'd be confident doing but I was brave and tried it, and surprisingly I really enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to teaching some more next year, and if you have any suggestions for workshops you'd like me to teach please let me know.
Places to classes are limited to if you'd like to join The Art Room's mailing list please do so here.

life drawing workshop
The Art Room has a couple of spots left for THIS Saturday's life drawing workshop (Melbourne)!
A fun and challenging full day workshop aimed at all levels from complete beginners through to the more experienced. The primary focus will be on developing good observational drawing practice. By exploring the fundamental elements of drawing, students will learn to interpret and represent what they observe in front of them, and to build confidence in their ability.
This drawing workshop is intended to challenge a student's understanding and interpretation of what they see and how they represent that. Using the human figure in both short and long poses, students will explore three-dimensional form and space, shape, proportion, and relationships. Students will work with a series of interesting spatial contexts and learn to be critical and solve drawing problems as they occur.

Dance Sucker
I went to the Sub Station in Newport today and shot the last 3 images for my series 'Dance Sucker'. It was great to shoot just for me but struggled a little with the running back and forth to the camera for self timing as I'm 5.5 months pregnant, and I keep forgetting I can't do what I normally do! And with all that forgetfulness I didn't even check if I still fitted into the dress* I'm wearing throughout the series but luckily I managed to squish myself in.

There was a Sudanese dance group there as well which added a nice soundtrack while I was working, anyhoot here is a sneak peak of one of the works in progress. Highlighting the ridiculousness of profile pictures;

Ps. if you live in Melbourne and have been thinking about doing a drawing course you should check out the lovely and talented Erika Gofton, details of the courses she offers are on Facebook.
*This Fleur Wood dress was an amazing second hand find at The Green Collective in Anderson Street, Yarraville. It's one of my all time favourite places to shop.
